Bitter
Day
So far, the “Sweet
Day” and the “Salty Day” went well. I wonder what the children will bring for “Bitter
Day”. I’m looking forward to it as well.
Early in the morning, the
Starfruit class children already started to talk about the food they brought
for “Bitter Day”. I could hear they mentioned about dark chocolate.
So let see what they had
brought for the theme of the day:
Ee Wern : Bitter gourd cooked
by her grandma
Huey Xin: Dark Chocolate with
60% cocoa
Zen Hong: Dark Chocolate from
Cadbury
Pin Jee: Dark Chocolate with
72% cocoa
Yee Hin: Boh’s Black Tea
Since there were 3 types of
dark chocolate with different percentage of cocoa in its content, therefore, we
started with Zen Hong’s Cadbury dark chocolate, then followed by Huey Xin’s
dark chocolate and lastly Pin Jee’s dark chocolate. The children get to taste
the different bitterness in each type of chocolate. They even concluded that
Pin Jee’s 72% cocoa dark chocolate taste the most bitter among all the three
chocolate.
After that, the children
tried out the bitter gourd brought by Ee Wern. Surprisingly, some of the
children love it and they even asked for more.
Lastly, everyone got a cup of
black tea. At first, only a few children said they want to try while others
just looked on. I encouraged them to try just a sip. Out of expectation, the
children cried, “It’s delicious. Can I have some more?” Most of them had second
round of the black tea before we ended our session today.
This is the poster we did for
“Bitter Day”.
