Game - Words & Colours Recognition

Today, I prepared some words with colour cards for the children to carry out some activities with it.

Firstly, the children were given only words and they needed to search for the correct colour card. Most of them could get it done correctly while some needed some guidance. Secondly, they were given colour cards instead and needed to search for the words. We had this for 2 rounds before moving on to the next game.

At the centre of the classroom, I placed some colour cards with their words on the table. The children were divided int o 2 big groups with a ball each. They needed to work in pairs. Each pair was given a ball. They needed to place the ball on their tummy and they have to make sure that the ball doesn't fall. No hands are allowed to touch the ball. Then, when the pairs came to the table, they needed to work together to search for the correct pair of words with their colour cards without getting the ball onto the ground. Most of them could do it according to instruction. However, one of the group started to lose concentration during the game and they didn't get to collect as many pairs as they could and lost the game.

After the tiring game, we all moved down to the kitchen to check on our ice cream. Hmm, hmm.. The ice cream is ready. The children were thrilled to find that the ice cream tasted so delicious! Yummy. They all said!

Homemade Honey Flavour Ice Cream

Wei Xiang's mum had passed me the recipe for this honey flavour ice cream. She even sponsored us some honey.

Basically the ingredients that we needed were as followed:
1) Whipping Cream 200ml (the whipping cream that we got for today is actually 250ml, we used all of it)

2) HL milk 100ml (the smallest one we got is 200ml, we also used of all it)

3) 2-3 tablespoon of honey (the children wanted it to taste sweeter, therefore, we added in 4 tablespoon of honey instead)

According to Wei Xiang's mother, we only need to add in all the necessary ingredients and mixed it well before putting all into the container that we needed. Everyone helped out to pour the mixture into the container and off we sent it to the freezer.

The children were quite excited to know that they will have ice cream to eat on the next day.

The Snowman

The Snowman

The children were learning ice as their Mandarin theme in the morning. Lately, they were learning about snow. They had this book about "The Snowman" in their classroom. Yet, according to their Mandarin teacher, she only let the children read that book on their own. However, there's not wording in that book, only pictures.

I asked the children if they could understand the story by just looking at the pictures. Most of them shook their head. Therefore, since we were learning about white, I played the video about "The Snowman" for them to have a better understanding of the story.

Video Sharing - The Snowman

After the video, we had some simple and short sharing session about the things that the children remember in the story.

Kian Han: He must be dreaming. [he spoke in Mandarin]
Jie Min: Santa Clause
Germaine: Motorcycle
Umeko: He make up.

Then, we called it a day.

Note: 14th October 2015 (Wednesday) is Awal Muharram, a public holiday. Therefore, school is closed. There will be no blog update for tomorrow.

Worksheet - Mary Had a Little Lamb

Worksheet - Mary Had a Little Lamb

By using the nursery rhymes that the children had learned, I created a worksheet for them to work on it.

Before that, I get the children to recall every word that they remember in the nursery rhymes - Mary Had a Little Lamb. Then, I wrote all the words on the board. The worksheet needed the children to rearrange the sentences in order. Basically, I printed out 3 lines for the children to learn and read and match it in accordingly.

Then, I got some artificial cotton where the children could paste it onto the picture of the lamb next to the lines.

This is how the worksheet looked like:
