Setting Up a Supermarket (Part II)

Trip to Tesco: We have planned for a trip to Tesco supermarket on this coming Thursday to shop for some ingredients to make tuna sandwich on Friday. Therefore, I have divided the children into 5 groups according to the ingredients that we needed. Basically we needed bread, tuna & mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato and cheese.

Notices had been pasted into their message book. Parents kindly take note of this.

The children brought some other empty food boxes here today. Since the items are getting more, I labeled the price directly onto the box itself. It would much convenience for the children to count according to the money they have in hand. I still act as the cashier today as there were some absentees yesterday. They might not sure how’s the flow of the activity.

Some of the children were more aware of the amount of money in hand and whether it’s sufficient to buy. However, some of them just randomly take whatever they think they want without looking at the amount of money in hand.

With this opportunity, I wish to teach the children to be more aware of what they could take according to their budget in hand. It might be quite abstract yet hopefully this will create some awareness among the children especially when we try to educate them to spend wisely.
