Sun Art (Part II)
The children were so excited
to look at their sun picture and wanted to add in the face for it. Therefore, I
distributed out the sun pictures to each child. They quickly put a smiling face
on their sun. Besides that, I got each of them to write the word “sun” near to
their sun picture.
Lately, we have been reading
some pieces from “The English Reciting Program”. The first piece that I
introduced to the children was “Spring” by Thomas Nash. The lines are as
followed:
1.
Spring, the sweet spring,
Is the year’s pleasant king,
Then blooms each thing,
Then maids dance in a ring,
Cold doth not sting,
The pretty birds do sing,
Cuckoo, jug-jug, pu-we, to-witta-woo!
2.
The palm and may make country houses
gay,
Lambs frisk and play, the shepherds pipe all
day,
And we hear aye birds tune this merry lay,
Cuckoo, jug-jug, pu-we, to-witta-woo!
3.
The fields breathe sweet, the daisies
kiss our feet,
Young lovers meet,
Old wives a-sunning sit,
In every street these tunes our ears do greet,
Cuckoo, jug-jug, pu-we, to-witta-woo!
Spring! The sweet Spring!
Dear parents, if you happen
to hear your child says ,”to-witta-woo” it’s from this beautiful poem. The
children find this particular phrase amusing.
This is for the children to
listen and read along. This is to create the listening skills and appreciate
the beauty of such poem or phrase.
