Brand New Year 2016

Welcome back!!

Starfruit class is always a brand new class every year. This year, I have about 20 children in Starfruit Class. English thematic class is considered brand new to them. Therefore, I chose a familiar topic for them to start off with since Chinese New Year is just around the corner.

Teacher: Children, what do you remember about Chinese New Year?
Gaby: Happy Chinese New Year...... to eat biscuit.
Shan Lin: Fireworks...... Wear nice dress...... eat rice together (I think she means reunion dinner)
Yen Rou: Monkey (she replied this when I asked about the Chinese Zodiac for year 2016).
Xiang Jing: orange (I think she meant about mandarin)
Yi Rou: Angpau (red packets)......go for prayers......play lantern.

I believe the children would have some memories about the Chinese New Year celebration that they had last year. We shall carry out some activities along the way till Chinese New Year.

Parents could prepare some old or used red angpao packets for the children to bring to school. We needed the red angpao packets as materials for art and craft. We might need it by early next week. Thank you for your cooperation.
