What taste is that?

Today, I prepared 5 different colour cups with different taste in it. The children could only see plain water and no colour. Therefore, they have to guess what taste it would be. Basically, there were five different tastes in it - sweet, sour, salty, bitter and hot/spicy.

When I placed the five colour cups on the table, the children would choose which colour to start off with. Before that, they would need to predict the taste in that particular cup they had chosen. After that, I gave each of them a small amount of water to taste it. Some of them would smell it first before tasting it. You could see from their expression when it comes to those taste that they don't like.

Once the tasting was done, we had a discussion about the next activity that we will be doing related to taste. The information below is for the activity of the taste of the week:

15/6/2015 (Monday)- Salty Day
16/6/2015 (Tuesday)- Hot/Spicy Day
17/6/2015 (Wednesday) - Bitter Day

Parents could discuss with your child on the food that he/she could bring to school to share with his/her fellow classmates according to the theme of the day.
