Lion Dance

Lion Dance

The children learned about the Nian monster, I believe they had seen lion dance performance during Chinese New Year. Today, I played a short video about the basic of lion dance and get them to observe the lion in the video.

Teacher: Is the lion in the lion dance colourful or just one plain colour?
Children: Colourful.
Teacher: How many people do you think is in one lion?
Children: One......Two......Four......
Teacher: Look again. How many legs do you see?
Children: Four.
Teacher: How many legs do you have?
Children: Two.
Teacher: So how many people do we need for one lion?
Children: Oh....two.

Then, I showed them an art work of a lion dance that I saw from online. The children find it amusing when they noticed that the legs of the lion can move. Most probably we shall carry out this art work for this week before the theme ends.
